Gammacell®1000 Elite/ Gammacell®3000 Elan

Transfusion associated graft versus host disease (TA-GVHD) is one of the most serious complications of blood transfusion. It is a clinical symptom group similar to anti-host disease caused by bone marrow transplantation, which occurs after blood recipients are transfused with blood or blood components containing immunocompetent lymphocytes (mainly T lymphocytes), with the mortality rate as high as 90% ~ 100%.  Gammacell®1000 Elite/3000 Elan uses cesium -137 radioactive source, which need not to be replaced during the service life of the product. Irradiating blood or blood products with γ ray can effectively inactivate T lymphocytes with immune activity in blood. Transfusion of irradiated blood or blood components can effectively prevent the occurrence of TA-GVHD and make blood transfusion safer.
